Talaash is a psychological thriller which has a  murder to solve, a mystery to unveil, emotions and relationships strained with personal loss to heal, and paranormal phenomena’s!

Talaash falls in the category of good movies to watch in the recent releases, but if you are an Aamir Khan fan, this movie is not his best. This movie is not an Aamir Khan focused movie and his fans may fall short of their expectations. Hence now I understand the conflicting views of the many viewers about this movie!

The movie set in the underbelly of the Mumbai city’s red light district,  starts with a film actors car  driving off the road, plunging into the waters to drown. Solving this case is Inspector Surjan (Aamir khan) who is going through personal trauma of his son’s drowning accident. The commonality of the drowning incident makes this case the Inspectors obsession. This leaves his depressed wife ( Rani Mukerjee) in further state of loneliness and  in quest for emotional survival. As the cop investigates this complicated mystery, he gets clues from a mysterious hooker Rosy ( Kareena Kapoor) who helps in unraveling the twists of this movie!

The movie though well made to a certain extent has multiple themes working simultaneously which complicates the intrigue and suspense in the story.  Though the thrill also gets predictiable before the end.

The acting of the both the actresses, the  memerising Kareena Kapoor and the devoid of makeup depressed Rani Mukerjee was good.  The brilliance of  Aamir Khan  was he  underplaying  himself, and becoming the role in the movie. But paradoxically will also have to say he doesn’t outshine himself in this movie like in his many other roles in bollywood movies!

Director Reema Kagti  and writer Zoya Akhtar  create a movie with a genre of  psychological thriller with paranormal phenomena which helps them get away with their plotline and their ending.  They could have skipped the hints through the movie which made it a little predictable for the keen audience. The movies dialogs surprisingly are not reflective of dialog writers like Farhan Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap. But the songs have beautiful lyrics of Javed Akhtar, tuned to good music by Ram Sampath. Overall it’s a good movie. Not great, but good.
